Lalahan Hotel Waste Management Plan
Purpose: As a hotel, we have created an effective waste management plan to reduce our environmental impact and support our sustainability efforts. This plan aims to reduce waste production, increase recycling and dispose of waste correctly.
Steps:
1. Waste Reduction and Segregation:
◦ Hotel employees are given regular training on waste reduction and separation,
◦ Waste separation containers are provided in rooms, restaurants and other facility areas,
◦ Unnecessary use of packaging is avoided to reduce waste production.
2. Recycling:
◦ Separate recycling containers are placed for materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic and glass,
◦ Staff and guests are informed and encouraged about recycling practices,
◦ Recycling materials are collected regularly and delivered to authorized recycling facilities.
3. Organic Waste Management:
◦ Organic waste is collected separately in restaurants and kitchens,
◦ Cooperation is made with suitable processing facilities for composting organic waste or producing bio-gas.
4. Medical Wastes and Hazardous Materials:
◦ Medical waste and hazardous materials are collected, stored and disposed of in accordance with local laws and regulations,
◦ Special training is given on the management of medical waste.
5. Communication and Monitoring:
◦ Guests and staff are informed about waste management policies through in-house information materials,
◦ Waste amount and recycling rates are regularly monitored and reported,
◦ The effectiveness of waste management strategies is evaluated and corrective measures are taken when necessary.
6. Sustainable Supply Chain:
◦ Policies are developed to encourage sustainable packaging of materials coming from suppliers,
◦ Efforts are made to use disposable products and packaging at a minimum level.
